Maximum spring pre-load adjustment?

Hi,

Does anyone know what the maximum spring (rear) pre-load adjustment is, Ive twisted the rings around so 11 threads are showing about the pre load rings and it doesnt seem to want to move anymore so I guess I maxed it out, however does soemone know how far you can turn the pre load (to increase it) and how many threads are showing when you do this?

just in case mine is being stubborn cause I just cant get the stiffness that I like on this preload at all :(

e.g under hard acceleration the back end squats down and feels very soft - not like my R6 at all which is a true race setup...

Also are there any other adjustments I can make - I've turned the gas pre load and this makes absolutley bugger all difference - I assume you turn this anti - clockwise to increase the gas pre load? ie. you turn it in not out?

>>stupid manual says go to your dealer and gives no details at all

Hmm okay managed to find this on a postw hich says 14mm is the 'suggested' spring rear setting BUT

Rear: Spring preload 14mm thread showing from top
Rebound 1 turn out from full stiff
Compression slow speed 1.75 turns out from full stiff
Compression high speed 3 turns out from full stiff

Does anyone know where the Compression slow speed adjuster is - I know where the high speed is on the left hand side of the shock at the the top but wheres the slow speed adjustment? I think this is the problem I have...

low speed compression damping is located at the top of the shock on the riders left side of the bike.
look thru the hole in the subframe. it's the slotted screw inside the high speed adjuster. outside of that is the highspeed that you adjust with a socket. page 3-30 of your manual shows this way better than i can describe it.

ahh ok thanks - I'll have alook tonight - btw the dealer just told me that theres a screw behind the gas cylinder at the back - not the anoodized purple one that is actually low speed compression?? It took them 30 minutes to come back with that so I reckon they dont know what they are talking about...

Im coming to that conclusion - I dont think the pre load I want is even capable of being done by the standard shock absorber - thats really not impressed me - might be my last GSXR for that matter.

GSXR is turning out to be a showbike not a sprtsbike at all - R6 was sports out of the box :(

That just means you don't know how to set up a bike right. No big deal, 99% of riders don't. What are you're geometry numbers and what are you're SAG numbers? That will give all the right info you need.
Here do this. It will help you find out everything you need to know.

Well as usual Mikeinwi got it right - my dealer got it wrong *sheesh* Anyway I retract my statement about suspension, last night when I got back to the bike I sat on it and wahhya know the suspension was much stiffer! - no idea why I noticed it last night but it was alot better than before and cheered me up no end :)

Thanks for the link but unfortunatley setting sag is one thing I cant do - no mates around and no one to help unfortunatley and I cant do it on my own. I'm going to a trackday soon at Brands Hatch and have asked for the guy there to help me with suspension setup so hopefully we can get things sorted properly.

thanks for all the tips and I'll print that thread to take with me ;)
