I live and work in Japan with the Navy. I have a US Spec L1 I got new. Just wondering if there are any factory recalls on my bike I need to know about so I can have them fixed. Did a search and found nothing. Thanks in advance. :)

There is a recall for th dealers to change out the mc and resvior. But there is a wait on parts that are at least two weeks out for riders living in Hawaii. My l1 brakes felt spongy so rebelled with motojoe tutorial on the how to page and for the time being there much better for now looking at the brae mob RCS right now thou.

I started this thread before the M/C recall was issued. After the M/C recall came out I posted it on here but the post was missing the next day so I posted it again thinking maybe I don't finish the post correctly or the forum screwed-up or something strange happened. The post was again deleted at which point I got a PM from SAMANTHA750 (no disrespect intended) saying if I posted it again I would be placed on vacation. Which I believe meant be Banned for a period of time. Apparently since the M/C recall came out many folks are posting it all over the place so the Admin's are deleting them everyday to try and keep the same type of post to the minimum. So my advice is do not post a word about the M/C recall because it will be deleted by the Admin's and you could be in trouble. In fact, I hope I'm not in trouble for this post.

I was told to bring the bike if not they won't order the part.
The only reason I can see to inspect the bike before they order the part is to personally view the vin number and see if it has been done already.

But really.... They can cross reference the vin number to see if that bike had been done.

In any situation I do not see why you would have to leave your bike there. Usually shops will charge the owner for bikes sitting around.

OK, question. Based on the recall notification Suzuki will offer reimbursement for parts/labor spent to resolve the "spongy brake" issue that led to the current recall (below excerpt from recall bulletin). If I purchase a brembo Master cylinder and have it installed could I get reimbursed for that??

It also mentions prior repairs. Does this mean that it is only able to be reimbursed if the repairs took place prior to the recall notice?

Will Suzuki reimburse me for prior repairs to address the defect that resulted in this recall?

Yes, but only for repairs related to this campaign, and not for routine maintenance

Only repairs made to address the defect that led to this recall are reimbursable. Additional expenses
such as towing, car rental, accommodations, damage repa
irs, etc., will not be reimbursed.
Reimbursement will not be provided for routine scheduled maintenance.

Reimbursement may be limited to the suggested list price for parts, the Suzuki published flat rate time
allowance for the repair, and the labor rate th
at an authorized Suzuki dealer in the same area would
charge for the same repair.

An owner will not be eligible for reimbursement if the expenses for repairs are incurred more than 10
days after the date of the last owner notification letter sent by Suzuki
Motor of America, Inc.

Reimbursement claims may also be excluded when in adequate documentation is not submitted by the claimant.
22.
What documents do I need to provide in order to be reimbursed?

The documents required include proof of ownership, a repair or
der, and proof of payment for the repair

Just got letter which states reimbursement is for "previous repair"..... oh well wishful thinking

Me? I just flip the kickstand down with it in gear, that usually stops it....Failing that, just throw her on her side and there is another switch that will shut her off..:)

Those asking about reimbursement of a brembo.,.. :spit :lmao :wacko

Basically what that likely means is if you bought a mc rebuild kit to rebuild yours or recently bought a new mc from a Suzuki dealer

You mean I can't get reimbursement for my $160.00 Spiegler SS lines (for firmer feel), $55.00 Vortex Sprockets (had to gear it so it would go slower in first), $360.00 Brembo master cylinder (to make it easier to bleed), $2, 000.00 Brembo gp4-rx calipers (to help solve the spongy feel),$650.00 batfly rotors (needed more surface area and cooling to compensate for spongy feel), and the ultra cool $3.00 Tygon brake line (had to be able to visually see if the fluid was contaminated)?

I had already planned on that $3, 200.00 for presents! Joe..... You just ruined my kids Christmas!
