Hi, this is my first post here but have tried to search the forum but there was simply too many threads, I'd have to read all week to finish all.
My problem began with my old engine, a GSX-R 750 -91 with 55000km on it. My gears started jumping in and out of gears very fast when I gave full throttle. At first it was only the first gear but since I didn't fix it the problem came earlier in the revs and in more and more gears. In the end I could provoke it even in fourth gear (full in 9-10krpm)!
Last spring I changed all gears on the axis where 1st-4th gears are placed and also gear forks. This didn't solve my problem so I also switched the cam for gear shifting and the cam stopper and the spring there. This didn't help either so I switched the "gear shift cam driven" (sorry for not knowing the correct english terms, I'm qouting the names from the microfische) and the parts there. Still not resolving the issue!!! :cursing
What I did next was replacing the entire engine! Yesterday I managed to make the new engine (42000km) do exactly the same thing (on first gear, 8000rpm, full throttle). :cursing Since all my parts in the old engine probably still is in very good condition (I never ran the bike more than 500-750km after first fix and at that point it was MUCH harder to make it jump in and out of gears and only doing so in first) I'm thinking of undercutting 1st and 2nd, putting shims to tighten it up and putting all of my new parts into the new engine (I abused the old one when I was repairing it leading to 3 helicoils in the exhaust, M10!!).
Since I already know what I want to do I just want to know if there could be some more issues I haven't thought of yet. Like why the gears continued to pop in and out on my old engine dispite all the parts being new........ Since the only parts I didn't change was the driveshafts, the bearings (the one on the outgoing driveshaft was replaced earlier so that one's relatively new) and crankcase the issue must be somewhere here, right?!
Much text I know but hopefully someone have the energy to read it and maybe help me get my gixxer working again. I could hardly sleep last night because of this.....
